- Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Aaron Landry, age 77, who died at 8:25 PM on Friday, October 12, 2012 at his residence in Judice, surrounded by his family.
Entombment will be in St. Basil Mausoleum in Judice.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Cassie Landry and Amy Williams. Lectors are Michelle Landry and Kessler Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louella Faulk Landry of Kaplan; three sons, Glenn Landry and his fianceé, Lisa Landry, Michael "Skeeter" Landry and his wife, Tina Stelly, Dean Landry and his wife, Jackie Marceaux, and one daughter Denise Landry Dronet and her fiancé, Chad Bower; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and the apples of his eye, two great grandsons and three step great granddaughters. He is also survived by three sisters, Verna Schexnider, Maudry Romero and her husband, Percy and Mayola Landry; one sister-in-law, Jane Landry and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ola Benoit Landry and one brother Dallas Landry.
Affectionately known as "Paw" by his family and friends, Mr. Landry was a native and resident of the Judice Community for 41 years. He was a school bus driver for Lafayette Parish until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Landry derived constant joy from his huge social network of family and friends. He enjoyed playing the triangle (Tee-fer) in a Cajun music band, dancing, camping and playing bourré.
Pallbearers will be Michael "Skeeter" Landry, Dean Landry, Cody Landry, Jody Landry, Brett Landry and Chad Bower.
Honorary Pallbearers are Glenn Landry, Kyle Ipson and Steven Williams.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
A recitation of the Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Gary Guidry and Dr. Brian Granger and the nurses and the staff of LGMC & Hospice of Acadiana, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given to Mr. Landry during his time of need.
