- Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 22, 2001, at a Mass of Christian Burial in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Armand C. "A.C" Deshotels Jr., 66, who idea at 6:30 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
The Rev. John de Leeuw, retired, will be the celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Reader will be Wilbert Woody. Eucharistic ministers will be Essie Deshotels and Sister Laura Melancon, Order of the Carmelite, and gift bearers will be granddaughters, Rachael and Nicole Deshotels. Jodie Bollich, organist, will sing "On Eagles' Wings," "Be Not Afraid," "How Great Thou Art" and "Yahweh, You Are Near."
Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Deshotels, a native of Lafayette, was the son of the late Armand C. Deshotels Sr. and the former Bernadette Connolly. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL).
He was a member of St. Leo Christian Community where he was a lector and member of the parish council. He was a former member of Teurlings Catholic High School Board; the Louisiana National Guard; was President of Deshotels & Associates; and a member of the Lafayette Realtors Association. He had been a real estate appraiser for the past 38 years.
Survivors include his wife, Carol "Ginger" Coreil Deshotels of Lafayette; his mother, Bernadette Connolly Deshotels of Lafayette; one daughter, Lynette Deshotels of Lafayette; three sons, Christopher and his wife, Paula Smith Deshotels, and Randy Deshotels, all of Lafayette, and Mitchell Deshotels of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Cynthia Moore and Marlene D. Woody, both of Lafayette, and Cecile D. Arceneaux of Fullerton, Calif.; three brothers, Donald Deshotels, John Allen Deshotels and Roderick Deshotels, all of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Rachael, Nicole, Crystal, Mary, Ben, Nicholas and Madeline Deshotels; and two great-grandchildren, Darian and Hunter Comeaux.
He was preceded in death by his father, Armand C. Deshotels Sr.; one brother, Russell; and two sisters, Gloria D. Hensgens and Della D. Connolly.
A rosary will be recited at 7 PM today in the funeral home by the Rev. John de Leeuw and Sister Laura Melancon, Order of the Carmelite.
Pallbearers will be Leo Broussard, Karl Hensgens, Dwight Deshotels, Al Habetz, Michael Connolly and Donald Deshotels.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 PM to 8 PM today and from 8 AM Friday until time of the services.
