    • Our hero with a gentle, loving soul. He battled cancer with great dignity and most of all, without ever a complaint. Our most gracious appreciation to our mother for her unselfishness in caring for our father. Most of all, our love and admiration to our Daddy who is now at rest and peace.       Funeral services will be held at a 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for Roy Joseph Trahan, 75, of Scott, who died at 6:30 PM Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at his residence.

      Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

      The Rev. Gilbert Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Joni Hamilton, organist, will sing for the services, "Because I Love You," "Isaiah 49," "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Notre P?re."

      Survivors include his wife, Lillian Leger Trahan, of Scott; one daughter, Lana Gail Touchette and her husband, Dale, of Scott; two sons, Harold James Trahan and his wife, Anita, of Lafayette and Glenn Ray Trahan and his wife, Sharon, of Scott; one granddaughter, Kristine Trahan Rolon and her husband, Michael, of Smyrna, Tenn.; four grandsons, Kelly James Trahan, of Baton Rouge, Casey Marc Touchette, of Scott, Nicholas Paul Trahan and his wife, Amber, of Lafayette and Cody James Touchette, of Scott; and two great-grandsons, Kyle Vincent Rolon and Dylan Thomas Rolon, both of Smyrna.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Cordelia Denais Trahan.

      A native of Lafayette Parish and a resident of Scott for eight years, Mr. Trahan was a veteran of military service, having served in the U.S. Air Force.

      Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the state of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development from 1959 until 1984.

      Mr. Trahan was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Community of Scott.

      The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana; Maria Olivier, nurse; and Drs. Karen Roden, Harold Chastant and Brian Barnes.

      A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM today in the Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott.

      The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 AM to 10 PM today and from 8 AM until time of services Tuesday.

      Memorial contributions in Mr. Trahan's name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.

      Military rites will be conducted by Keesler Air Force Base.

      Pallbearers are his sons, Harold James and Glenn Ray Trahan and his grandsons, Kelly James and Nicholas Paul Trahan and Casey Marc and Cody James Touchette. Honorary pallbearers are Harry Lee Leger, Dale Touchette, Michael Rolon and Bradley Leger.
